What is english gematria

english gematria is a method of numerical interpretation that assigns a numeric value to each word in an alphabetical sequence. It is primarily used for assigning numerical values to words in order to interpret their meaning or symbolism. English Gematria is closely related to Hebrew Gematria, and it is believed that the two are related somehow.

In English Gematria, the letters of the English alphabet are each assigned a numerical value. The values for each letter in the English alphabet can be found in any good English dictionary and typically range from one through nine, with zero being assigned to the letter A (or alpha). This means that when assigning numbers, every letter can only represent a non-negotiable digit. For example, the word "love" would be assigned a value of 7 + 6 + 4 + 5 = 22.

The origins of English Gematria are murky but scholars agree that it has its roots in ancient Greek and Jewish mysticism. Many theorists believe that traditional methods of numerology and divination were used by secret societies in ancient cultures across Europe and Asia Minor. Its contemporary use however arises most often within esoteric circles as part of their occult studies and independent research into hidden meanings within texts.

The primary function of English gematria appears to be rooted in reverence for numbers as sources of knowledge through analysis and comparison. It also enables words or phrases which may have similar meanings to have their numerological interpretations compared side by side. For example, if one were seeking an understanding of divine symbolism associated with certain words "peace" could be numerically compared with "love" and most famously with "666" which represents Satan or evil spirits depending on which religious perspective you follow - this comparison can reveal insight into how languages shape our world view either positively or negatively.
